Appalachian
State University (ASU), through the Financial Planning Center, is registered with Certified
Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc.(CFP
Board) to offer undergraduate and executive certificate programs
in the area of financial planning. The programs provide students
with a comprehensive study of the financial planning field, completing
the first of four certification requirements. Because CFP® certification
indicates to the public an ability to provide financial planning
without supervision, CFP Board requires an individual to have experience
in the financial planning process. Three years of relevant experience
with a bachelor's degree is required. The work experience requirement
can be completed either before or after successfully completing
the CFP® Certification Examination. In addition to education,
examination and experience, students are held to the highest ethical
standards.

PLANNER™, and CFP (with flame logo)® certification marks.
CFP certification is granted only by Certified Financial Planner
Board of Standards to those persons who, in addition to completing
